I didn’t hold out much hope for this one as it had been in a loft for several years and the turntable wasn’t turning. On inspection I found that the rubber suspension on the turntable motor had perished allowing the motor to drop down on it’s mountings, meaning the jockey wheel was no longer in contact with the inside of the platter. Being 50 years old it was no surprise that the required parts were no longer available and not to be beaten I made new ones from rubber washers, that sorted that problem out. The next issue was that in it’s lowered position the motor had been grinding on the metal chassis, showering the output and power supply with metal filings, so I gave the panel a thorough clean, replaced the fuses that had blown and was rewarded with a working system. Most of the pots and switches were noisy so I needed to clean them but it’s now back with it’s owner and will hopefully go on for a few more decades.
